Legends of Eisenwald is an original mix of RPG and strategy, with tactical turn based battles and a simple economic model. Rich possibilities of gameplay mechanics allow a player to feel being a hero of different stories ranging from treasure hunt to fighting for the throne.
Here is a quick update on the state of beta testing: we are still delayed. The reason number one is that Desura still didn’t approve our beta version. It is partly our fault, the game didn’t start on their test computer, but it took them over a week to get back to us. This was a small issue and we are uploading the corrected version right now.
Another issue with Desura that we are trying to resolve: they want two versions of the installer: one is a standalone installer that we have to provide, another one is called MCF installer that Desura makes on their own. Providing a standalone installer is needed for the final game but not so much for a beta version because it would be hard to deal with it – every time we want to release a patch, we would have to go and create another installer. This is not very hard but we have just two programmers and we would like to avoid spending extra efforts every time we make a patch (likely, there will be many of them). With the MCF installer the life will be much easier for us, so we hope Desura staff will understand our position.
We implemented all of the things we wanted to make this beta testing, but it made the game somewhat unstable and we are working hard right now to track down these bugs and fix them, so the game is not crashing at times, at least not too much. We will write these short updates until the moment the beta is ready, stay tuned.
The state of things
After an update from Haunts: The Manse Macabre and several articles about it in the media we received quite a few emails asking us how we are doing. So, we are happy to say, that despite these little issues, we are doing well. We have been very frugal with the funding received here and we have enough to finish our game. We might be a little short regarding our marketing plans but this will hopefully be covered through the pre-order.
All this time after the Kickstarter was finished, we received a lot of investment offers. Despite the fact most of them were unreasonable (to put it mildly), it gave us a lot of confidence in our game. Also, after the Kickstarter campaign was over our friends-investors became much less stressed about our game and their money – they saw that our work was appreciated and welcome by this wonderful community here. And it’s all of you who made it possible, who gave wings to complete our dream! Even if you are tired of hearing this – we are very grateful to all of you and we will keep reminding you of that! :)
